the coded language

The technology industry is trapped in its own web of consensual delusions.

We've seen a whole-hearted embrace of disruption for disruption's sake, device connections over human connections, and interruption as a virtue. Many technologists think nothing of "capturing" a user's personal information or creating "addictive" experiences. This is bad for humans, and it needs to stop now.

A theme in our workshops is to guard against coded language. Coded language, like the Mindful Technology™ anti-patterns, flag problems that we can fix to create technology that puts people first. When we find ourselves using this coded language, it's a signal that we might benefit from revisiting the value system to be sure that we are creating for the world we want to live in.
