the anti-patterns

Through our research, we've identified dozens of mindful technology anti-patterns. These are cynical and damaging practices that are unfortunately commonplace. They are vectors of inhumane technology.

These anti-patterns are things that indiscriminately put profits first, prioritize technology over people, or use emotional manipulation to get people to do something they otherwise wouldn't. We frequently add to this list as we identify patterns and techniques that put humans last.

But these anti-patterns are more than just annoying tricks: along with the coded language and the Mindful Technology™ value system, they are signposts that can guide the way to build for digital well-being. When we challenge ourselves to avoid these anti-patterns, we are actually inviting ourselves to build technology more mindfully.
